We are currently performing maintenance on the website. While this is being done you may experience issues with links and content. We will be back up and running as soon as possible.
Many thanks to all who supported the Venison Shoot today, and those who came along early to help set out the course. We all had a good time, and even the weather was kind to us. Congratulations to John Rawles and Nell, enjoy the venison!
This year’s field shoot in memory of club founder Rex Badderley took place on Sunday 4th December. A healthy field turned out to take part, including several visitors.
Here is the message from Graham,
A big thanks to all of you who came out today to shoot the Field Round at Margam in memory of Rex. The weather was “I ‘ll settle for that ” and the light patches of rain didn’t dampen the enthusiasm.
Results and scores then. All longbow unless otherwise stated.

A big thanks to the work team again. And we have a large areal map now of the site which we are going to get laminated so as we can set out different courses on it which will not only add some variation but will allow us to use different parts of the park in different times of the year / weather conditions. We can also set different difficulty courses and have a monthly shoot now that the new club trailer and Andy’s ( thanks ) 4×4 make it so much easier and quicker to set the round up.
In respect of this , any views on the course are most welcomed, today the course had seen a lot of recent wet weather and also a change of layout to the shoot due to a funrun that went though the park.So a few areas were possibly too wet and some crossings could be looked at to make gullies easier to pass.
We have all that we need habitat wise to put on some fantastic rounds with lots of exciting and challenging shots and I trust that the coming year will see lots of great shooting in the park.
The BL-BS Postal Portsmouth competition is running again. This year there is a change to how it is being administrated. While Phina is busy coaching some of our new members, Andy Gash has stepped up to be scorer for the competition.
Andy is collecting the scores and distributing spreadsheets of the overall and individual scores each week. These overall scores are then being updated on the website. Take a look to see how you are doing!
The second of the biannual Welsh Clout Meetings was held on the 10th of September. As usual a large contingent of archers travelled for the meeting. Thank you all for making it a great day as usual! A great day for Margam Archers members who took the Welsh Honours.

It is that time of year again, the days are getting shorter and Christmas decorations are in the shops. We will be back indoors at Tondu Cricket club from Monday 19th September.
The BL-BS Indoor Portsmouth competition will be running from November to February again this year. If you are interested please could bring your £5 and your BL-BS number with you and speak to Phina.
The Coastal Archers Double Western was held on 25th June with Dave, John, Andrew and Matthew flying the flag for Margam Archers. Phina went along to help with the scoring. There was once again a good turn out, and we met many familiar faces of those who attend our May and September Welsh Double Clout Championships at Margam Park. The weather was fine we all enjoyed a day in the sun.
Congratulations to Matthew Gash who took the Junior Trophy.
The Margam Archers Christmas Party was held at Tondu Cricket Club on Monday 13th December, where we all let our hair down (those of us who has any), and enjoyed and evening of competitions, fun and food. A raffle was held, and Members were invited to come along in Fancy Dress, this was optional, but with a £1 fine for those who did not take up the invitation. All money taken on this occasion was donated to the RNLI in memory of Fred Carlson, who sadly passed away in September. This Charity was very important to Fred, and the amount taken was made up to £100 by Margam Archers.
